Reliable Power Generation on board

Generator gearboxes can be used for the low-cost production of electricity on board. They are used with low-speed diesel engines and can be used for generator operation as well as for PTI/PTH operation (emergency operation). They can transmit power up to 8,000 kW. Installation is on the propeller shaft or on the front of the main engine.  By integration of a gear unit a smaller and thereby lighter shaft generator can be used. It can be driven with high speed. 1,800 up to 3,600 rpm are common.
