ARPEX ARV Wind Coupling

ARPEX ARV wind couplings are applied in the drive train between the gear unit and generator, serving to transmit torque and compensate for misalignments. Our product range includes couplings capable of handling up to 6MW of power. Featuring a compact design, they allow for radial assembly and disassembly without the need to move the gear unit or generator.

The specially designed stainless steel plate packs with optimized shapes, developed exclusively for wind turbine applications, ensure high torque transmission, large misalignment compensation, extremely low restoring forces, and an extended service life.

Optionally, these couplings can be equipped with a torque limiter to protect the drive train from overload torques. This torque limiter is self-adjusting, eliminating the need for maintenance or service after a triggering event. The coupling’s design features and material combinations guarantee a long service life across a wide range of environmental conditions.

ARPEX GIGA Wind Coupling

The ARPEX GIGA is a high-performance solution designed for wind turbines and integrated drive trains. As a maintenance-free and wear-free double-joint disc coupling, it is installed between the rotor shaft and gear unit. It protects the gear unit and drive train from bending and thrust loads generated by the rotor—greatly extending the service life of bearings and gears.

This coupling can transmit torques of up to 12,000,000 Nm and compensate for axial, angular, and radial misalignments. It is compatible with all wind turbine concepts, including low-speed, medium-speed, and high-speed applications. Optionally, it can be supplied as a single-joint coupling.

We utilize our patented conical bolting system to connect the plate packs to the hub and spacer flanges. This time-tested conical bolting system, which has been proven reliable for decades, provides a convenient and secure fastening solution that reduces assembly time significantly. During maintenance work, the conical bolts on the turbine can be easily disassembled and reassembled using standard tools.
